When did you start scrap booking? Who/how did you get interested in it?
I started scrap booking in 2003. I actually started digital scrapping way before I even bought any paper supplies, but I quickly learned that I love the feeling of the paper, I love to hoard and collect...it's the only area of my life where I really do that. I have always been creative in some way or another. I studied interior design in college and I have always loved to draw and decorate using paper. So I think that scrap booking was just a natural progression for me after I started to get into photography. I wanted a way to highlight those photos I was so proud of. For me it really isn't so much about the memory keeping as it is a creative outlet.
Do you try to record every moment or just special ones?
Well for me it's all about what inspires me to create, it could be a memory like Christmas day, a photograph that really captures the moment, or even new colorful product. Since it's not just about the memory keeping for me, I am open to anything that inspires me to create.
What is your favorite part about the creative process?
My favorite part about creating is that excited feeling and rush of ideas I get when I see something that inspires me, usually patterned paper or a design concept. It is like a happy high for me to just sit down and brain storm ideas.
What color combo do you love to use lately?
Well right now because it is all about the holidays I seem to always gravitate toward blue and green together with touches of cranberry and silver. But my all time favorite combo would have to be black and white; it's classic and edgy and NEVER goes out of style.
Where does most of your inspiration come from?
Oh man, this one could be a long one...I love album covers SO SO much. Music is what drives me; I think I must have been a musician in a previous life, lol. I get a lot of inspiration from collage art. Photography is my obsession as of late, particularly photographs that have some kind of lens flare or the lighting is unique. But I think that number one thing that just makes me so excited to make art is watching other artist create, watching their processes and techniques...it FASCINATES ME!!!
What is your most favorite thing in or about scrapbooking right now?
Well for me it's the same as any other form of creativity, it's the broad range of interpretations and view points that are out there. It's so wonderful that we now have the web to share our scrapbooking and all creative endeavors. It's very touching and inspiring to be included into someone’s life that you don't even now. It's a renewing feeling of community and learning.
Which Elle's Studio product was your favorite to work with? Any product a
must have?
Well I have a few...I love all of the greeting circles, they remind me of those vintage paper bottle toppers, SO CUTE!! I also adore all of the note flats, I am a note writer and I love that now my notes all over the house are inspiring. I keep some next to my computer at home. The last thing that I love are those calendar date tags, the little circle ones.....GENIUS!! They are great for minibooks!!
